Journalist & Producer
I'm a journalist based in the Bay Area, CA contributing to KPFA Pacifica Radio (94.1FM). I cover local policy issues and movements for social, racial and economic justice, everything from immigrant rights, fair housing, and healthcare, to labor disputes, environmental protections, and criminal justice reform. I'm interested in land-based organizing, coalition building and intersectional feminism.
I’m currently a producer for UpFront (Mon-Fri 7am - 9am) on KPFA Radio. UpFront delivers a mix of local, state, and international coverage through challenging interviews, civil debates, breaking updates, and in-depth discussions with authors. Prior to that, I produced special coverage for KPFA including the live 2016 Primaries and Election Night coverage, "Free Speech" demonstrations at and around UC Berkeley, and worked as a general assignment reporter for the Pacifica Evening News.
I frequently do tape syncs for national broadcast, and past experience includes interviews for Latino USA, the BBC, NPR's Morning Edition, WNYC's Note to Self and many other podcasts.
As a reporter, I am deeply committed to news gathering and story telling with integrity, honesty and humility. It's never a perfect process but in this age of digital sharing and deep attention divides, it's important to me to bring breaking news to the public's attention that is authentic, informative, and focused on systems and solutions. I love radio broadcast because I can support people speaking to the public directly - sharing facts, research, personal opinion, beliefs, and experiences. Radio journalism enables the public to hear people speak out, in their own words.
I have a master's degree in international policy and development from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA. I believe we have a moral responsibility to understand and continually educate ourselves about the impacts of US foreign policy, corporate business and military actions around the world, and support human rights, justice, and reparations for harm done. Likewise international bonds must be strengthened in order to achieve our goals for a sustainable future and avoid environmental catastrophe. I love covering the Bay Area, CA and I hope that my reporting can elevate shared values and universal themes in the struggles for dignity, equity, creative expression and self determination.
